Ambrose parts with JTG Daugherty Racing.Back to Australia??

Postby Ambrosia » Fri Jul 30, 2010 2:17 pm

Unfortunately No ! Marcos Ambrose has announced he will depart JTG Daugherty Racing at the end of this NASCAR season. The team that entered into the top tier for the first time with Marcos. The team that you could say he took with him into the big league.

The talk is that a deal is 95% done and that he will race for Richard Petty Motorsport next season taking a seat in the vacant Kasey Kahne No.9 car. Back to Ford and Back to Good !

Competitively it's a big step up and huge vote of confidence in his improving ability. Wretched luck this year sees him way down the standings but in my opinion he has mastered the ovals, particularly the short tracks and just keeps getting better and better.

RPM are one of the best teams so hopefuly he can really prove himself next year and win some races. Then come back to V8 Supercars and clean up again for SBR :banana

Yeah, it looks like that is about it.

Other teams interested in Ambrose?

At least two rival team owners are taking a look at #47-Marcos Ambrose for 2011, if the always-smiling Aussie/Tasmanian racer decides to move on. Ambrose' 2009 rookie NASCAR season was so spectacular, with several near-wins. But he has struggled through the past few months, to put it mildly. And that lost victory at Sonoma last month was all the more biting.MikeMulhern.net)(7-26-2010)

UPDATE

Ambrose to the #9?: Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway with Dave Moody has learned that Marcos Ambrose will replace Kasey Kahne in the #9 Ford at Richard Petty Motorsports next season. Ambrose said he has no "Plan B" in place for 2011 and could even return to his native Australia if another Sprint Cup opportunity does not surface. Highly placed sources tell Sirius Speedway that a deal with RPM is "95% done," though there is no definitive word on who might sponsor the effort. Ford Racing Marketing Manager Tim Duerr declined to comment specifically on the report today, but said the automaker has longstanding ties with Ambrose.

"Marcos started with Ford and Ford brought him to NASCAR," said Duerr. "He bleeds Ford blue, and we would love to see him back in a Ford next season. I don't think that Marcos has a signed Sprint Cup ride for next season at present. It all depends on him, a sponsor and a team putting something together, but I am optimistic that we will see Marcos back in a Ford next season." A spokesman for Richard Petty Motorsports declined to comment today, calling the report "speculation."(Sirius Speedway)(7-28-2010)

To say that Richard Petty Motorsports (prior to that Gillette-Evernham, prior to that Ray Evernham Motorsports)
is a top tier team would be a real stretch. That would be like saying Paul Morris Motorsports is the leading edge in the V8s. PMM an RPM are about on the same level.

As for "Bleeding Blue", yeah..... Toyota $$$$ ran out for JTG.

Good luck, Marcos. I hope you land a top ride at some other team. because if you don't, you'll be back on home soil soon. If you do go back, it will be our loss and the V8's gain.

Bottom line: Money talks. JTG doesn't have it anymore.

On a sidebar, nice finding on the subject, Ambrosia. Welcome to the Forum.

Please forgive me, but is this worth even mentioning in this forum? Ambrose left years ago.

According to Ambrose's website (www.marcosambrose.com) Stanley Tools will be on the 9 car at Daytona starting the 2011 season.

Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) will be pared down to two cars - Ambrose (9 car) and A.J. Allmendinger (43 car). The 19 and 98 cars will be no longer. Elliott Sadler (19 car) is looking for a ride, and that kind of freed up Stanley, for they were part-time sponsors on that car. Paul Menard (98 car) is sliding over to Richard Childress Racing in 2011 (good move for him) and taking his Menard's sponsorship with him. I still don't think Stanley Tools are going to foot the bill for the entire 2011 season, though. The 9 car needs more sponsorship help. No word of Little Debbie Food Snacks or Kingsford Charcoal re-upping. Best Buy is noted to be back, but they were a (part time) primary sponsor with Allmendinger this year and that should not impact the 9 car.

Now, a post on www.jayski.com has Kenny Francis up in the air as to whether he is going to return to RPM to be the Crew Chief on the 9 car. Francis has been with Kasey Kahne for what seems like forever, and with Kahne moving on and vacating the 9 car, RPM is leaving it up to Francis as to what he wants to do. If Francis DOES move on, that could pave the way for MA's current Crew Chief Frankie Kerr to slide on over with MA to the 9 car. That would be a great scenario for all involved (provided Francis can find a job, of course).
...and now I'll go back to my side of the planet.
